Freeriding in Tignes backcountry on Monday I was caught in a windslab avalanche. The risk was 1/5 but proves that you are never risk free. Luckily managed to activate ABS airbag which stopped the slabs compressing me and also protected my back from the falling debris. Was taken around 150 meters in the slide. Managed to get myself out once the slide had stopped. Very much an experience, and one I do not wish to repeat.
Signal – Every Third Thursday
The boys at Signal have again taken snowboard design to the next level – Forget needing headphones to listen to your tunes when you ride, just get the boombox board cranking!
05.11am Hike
Thanks to the Tignes Cuisine crew, Chipie and Duncs, for setting the wheels in motion for the early morning hike last Saturday. Starting in the dark of night, seeing the sun rise at 07.24, watching the bombs go off then getting the opening lines in the 2 chardonnet couloirs. Some lines are memorable, some adventures will never be forgotten.
Chardonnet Couloir
Riding with the Tignes Cuisine crew today hitting up punters couloir in the Chardonnet. Wind had packed the snow in pretty heavy with mad desert ripples once it opened out to deal with but the Signal Omni handled it real good. Fast ride with a small wind slab breaking off near the bottom but smiles all round. Thanks to Chipie and Hobsy for boot packing but leaving us the line!
Lush floaty powder
Unfortunately the rain is chucking it down at the moment, temperatures have risen by 10 degrees and we are hovering around +1 at the moment. This little video was taken last week during the training camp and just reminds us how good cruising through an open field of fresh snow feels. Piss of rain!
Caly’s Morning run
Morning shred with Caly from Tignes 1800 to Les Brevieres down the summer road. Husky – the only way to travel in the mountains.
Life sucks hey….
Mark, Ben and me jibbing around Zermatt – life sucks hey?
