The Level 3 Technical is deemed as the highest snowboarding accolade in professional snowboard teaching. History shows us that only the strongest technical riders can achieve this, with an average pass rate of 30% over the past 5 years. The major reason for the low pass levels is the step up from level 2 to 3. The BASI Level 2 trains you to have a strong foundation and become a demonstrator. The BASI Level 3 puts the demonstrator to bed and brings out the performer, the inspirer. Many riders switch off after level 2, spend more time on the beginners slopes than they would prefer and bad habits creep back in. The second reason is the lack of understanding of what is required and turning up unprepared. This needs to change. Show that you react, not recover. Allow your board to perform no matter where you’re riding. Do not let the the terrain or snow conditions dictate you, take control 100% of the time. Become the all-rounded rider in all the strands, no major weaknesses. You must be able to inspire.

The most common feedback that we continually hear on the Level 3 course is “I wish I had this understanding at the start of the season” and “why is there not a preparation course?” Well here it is. Start your winter season off on the right track – Understand where you are, what you need to do and how you are going to get there.

Over the 5 days you will gain a greater understanding of the areas of  strength and weakness in your performance. We tend to ride to our strengths and avoid the weaker parts, but it’s time to face up to what’s holding you back. Receive the highest level of coaching and  build the best training program that you can take away and focus on training towards the course. To develop this level of riding takes time – this is your greatest opportunity to make that happen. Only you can make the changes, but you need to know what your goals are and how you are going to reach them.
